RAVENFLOW CEO TO ADDRESS AUTOMATED REQUIREMENTS TESTING AND VALIDATION AT IBM RATIONAL SOFTWARE SEMINAR
Ravenflow Selected by IBM to Help Companies Prepare for the Future of Requirements Definition and Management
EMERYVILLE, Calif.—October 26, 2007—Ravenflow, the leader in requirements authoring and validation tools that speed software project time to market, today announced that president and CEO Dr. Joe Marasco will deliver two addresses at the October 26 IBM (NYSE: IBM) Rational Software seminar "Your Future with Requirements Definition and Management." This executive and practitioner-level gathering will focus on the necessary-and inevitable-changes in business application requirements development, validation, and testing being driven by industry consolidation and other critical pressures that impact business and IT. Other presenters include Matt Light, research vice president at Gartner, as well as senior executives from IBM, iRise and Noblestar.
Dr. Marasco will discuss "Automated Validation of Requirements" during the executive track and "Automated Testing of Requirements" during practitioner sessions. Poorly-conceived requirements are the primary cause of software project failures—with more than half of a product's defects originating during this stage of development. Dr. Marasco will discuss how requirements are often "lost in translation" between business people who think in words and IT professionals who are attuned to visual models. He will show the time-to-market and financial impact of this disconnect—for example, systems built on poor or incomplete requirements are difficult to upgrade, expensive to maintain, and frequently do not adapt well to changes in requirements—and how these problems will continue to expand unless they are dealt with.
