RAVENFLOW’S REQUIREMENTS AUTHORING AND VALIDATION ENVIRONMENT NAMED "INNOVATION IN ENGINEERING" AWARDS FINALIST
RAVEN Solution One of Three Finalists in Software Design Category
EMERYVILLE, Calif. - September 15, 2006 - Ravenflow, the only company delivering automated requirements validation for application development organizations, today announced that its flagship Requirements Authoring and Validation Environment, RAVEN, was a finalist in the Institution of Engineering and Technology’s (IET) 2006 Innovation in Engineering Awards. The annual awards recognize and celebrate excellence in engineering innovation across a range of industry sectors and attract entries from around the world. RAVEN was one of three products short-listed in the Software Design category.
"Ravenflow’s vision is to revolutionize the way that software is developed by addressing an area in great need of innovation -- how requirements are created and validated, says Joe Marasco, president and chief executive officer of Ravenflow. “We are thrilled to be named a finalist by IET for excellence in engineering, and believe that this recognition underscores RAVEN’s novel approach to improving the requirements process, and ultimately bridging the gap between business expectations and software delivery."
The only solution available that automates the creation, specification and validation of requirements, RAVEN empowers the entire business and software development team to collaborate, communicate and manage risk during the requirements validation process. The solution expands the utility of UML by automatically generating diagrams from plain English text, enabling even non-technical project stakeholders from across the enterprise to gain immediate visual feedback on use cases. RAVEN facilitates the creation of precise, high quality requirements that everyone can understand, so that business and IT can work together to quickly identify and correct errors -- such as incomplete processes and ambiguous statements -- before coding begins. The end result is less rework, shorter development cycles, fewer budget overruns and a high project success rate.
With a worldwide membership of more than 150,000, the Institution of Engineering and Technology aims to lead in the advancement of engineering and technology by facilitating the exchange of knowledge and ideas at a local and global level and promoting best practices. Members work in a diverse range of technical backgrounds including IT, communications technology, electronics, power engineering, software, control, research and development and academia.
